We drove from Pittsburgh to Granville, Ohio. It was a rainy drive. After we unhooked our camper, our 7 ton truck got stuck in the mud. The people at Lazy River Campground had to pull Great White out with a big tractor. On Tuesday, we visited the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus. It has a cupola instead of a dome on top. It is more modest than the Capitol building in Harrisburg. We enjoyed our time there. We took a tour with a group of school students. We learned many facts about the building and the state of Ohio. There were students there from the University of Ohio demonstrating cutting edge technology. We also visited the Great Circle Earthworks in Newark, Ohio. These earthen enclosures were made by the Hopewell people 2000 years ago. They are big geometric shapes made of earth. The Hopewell used these for religious, social and possibly economic interaction. Now there are lots of groundhogs living in them. They were really cool. We just stumbled on them while we were having ice cream and doing laundry. We just love when we find an unexpected history lesson. We also drove by the Longaberger Basket offices. The building looks like a big basket. Next stop Charleston, WV.
