Grandfather Mountain, North Carolina

Driving on the Blue Ridge parkway we experienced many awesome views, but the view from Grandfather Mountain was breathtaking!  We drove to the Mile High Swinging Bridge.  On the way we stopped at Split Rock to view the two large split boulders.  We browsed the nature museum and saw bears, otters and deer in the nature habitat.  We stopped to eat our lunch at the Cliffside Overlook.  Once at the bridge we were exhilarated by the views in every direction.   We hiked under the bridge down the mountain and then back to the bridge. Cloe loves to hike too.  Marc, Marcus and Caroline then climbed the Grandfather Trail another mile to the peak.  They used ladders and ropes to reach their destination.  Grandfather Mountain has one of the most diverse views of nature that can be found.  The elevation and temperatures change as you traverse the 5,946 feet.

We camped at Green Mountain Campground in Lenoir, NC.  We were blessed to meet Joe and Linda and their family there.  Marcus and Caroline played in the creek and spent a few hours just hanging out with their new friends.  Marc and I enjoyed dinner and conversation with these seasoned campers.  They gave us words support and encouragement and more than that friendship. It is amazing how things work out sometimes.  It was just meant to be.  We hope our paths cross again someday in the journey of life.

Your family is wonderful! My mom sent me this. My boys loved playing with your kids and my folks thoroughly enjoyed spending time with you two. My mom was so touched by the scarf. Enjoy your adventure and keep in touch. The boys say hi to Marcus and Caroline!!!
    Love,
