We camped in Brunswick, MD right between the Patomac River and the C & O canal path bike trail. We rode our tandem bikes about seven miles to Harpers Ferry, WV. A section of the town is a National Historic Park. The scenery was amazing. This is where John Brown chose to launch his fight for freedom for the enslaved Americans. John Brown’s raid on the armory here widened the divide between the North and the South, which would lead to the Civil War. There were Park Rangers dressed as they would have been during the Civil War who told stories about what life was like for the residents of this town.
