Chenango Valley State Park (and a pleasant surprise)

We began the next phases of our journey in New York State. We camped at a very nice state park. It had nice paved roads for hiking on and a beach on one of the lakes for swimming. Marcus and Caroline enjoyed spending the whole day with Grammy Red. We wouldn’t have even chose this campground without her suggestion. Like I always say things happen for a reason. While Marc and I were starting dinner there was a knock on our door. It was a couple asking if we had been in Cape Hatteras a month or so ago… We had. They had recognized our truck. You know how much Marc loves to talk trucks. We began talking to them and found out they were from a town not far from where we grew up. He had even seen Great White parked on Lane Hill Road. She had homeschooled her children for awhile so I enjoyed talking about that. After dinner we went over to see their camper (which was a beautiful class A.) They talked about how much they enjoyed camping and what great adventures they had with their children camping. Even though there had been health concerns in their lives they had positive attitudes which really inspired me. She said “things happen the way they were meant be.”. I truly believe we were meant to meet them. Come to find out we are related to the same family just on the opposite sides (his uncle was married to my great aunt.).  What a chance meeting!
