San Antonio River Walk

If you are ever in San Antonio be sure to spend some time on the River Walk.  From the earliest days of San Antonio, the river repeatedly flooded whenever there were heavy rains.  In 1921 there was tremendous damage due to the water.  Some wanted to pave over the river and turn it into an underground storm drain.  Instead some far-sighted citizens campaigned to save the river!  I am so glad they did.  We loved the river walk and all of the interesting architecture.  We had lunch at historic Casa Rio.  It was so yummy.

Grammy Red took Marcus and Caroline on a river cruise where they learned about the history and stories of this picturesque landmark.

Tamara and her son Sy treated us to an evening of lights and fun.  We attended the lighting of the tree at the Alamo, saw the River Walk illuminated and caught glimpses of the River Parade.  We even caught a ride on the trolley.tree
