Lost Dutchman State Park

IMG_2015We moved about eleven miles from Usery Mountain Park to the Lost Dutchman State Park.  The park  has  trails leading into the Tonto National Forest at Superstition Mountain.  Our camp sight looked directly at these amazing mountains.   IMG_1988

This place is truly amazing!  Marcus and Caroline worked their drawings as we hiked the mountains almost three miles on most days.

IMG_2005Mr. and Mrs. Polosky joined us for a hike on the 4 mile round trip Siphon Draw Trail.  This trail leads through scenic landscape to a canyon known as Siphon Draw.IMG_5019

The Superstitions Mountains are this land of towering spires and deep canyons formed by volcanic upheaval some 29 million years ago during the tertiary period of geologic timeIMG_2073

The trails we enjoyed were Prospector’s View and Jacob’s Crosscut trail.  IMG_5011

We have learned so much about cacti.  They are amazing plants that we have learned to respect.
