Hiking in Sedona

Before going for a hike, we decided to stop by The Chapel of the Holy Cross.  It is built right between two red rocks on a so-called Vortex spot.  It is designed by Marguerite Brunswig Staude, a student of the architect Frank Lloyd Wright.  It’s interesting to think about how a church is where people feel closest to God and this church is a man-made structure partially built in the crevices of God-made rock.  The simple interior has  views across the valley to the mountains beyond.  We found a beautiful cactus in bloom while we were there.

On this sunny day we took a four mile hike to Chicken Point on the Little horse trail.  It truly was difficult to decide what hike we should do since there are so many in the area and so many interesting things to see.  We chose this hike because there was a large parking area at the trail head and it was not far from the chapel.  We paid the five dollar park fee and began out hike.IMG_2275

There are views of magnificent rocks around every corner.  Marcus and Caroline stopped at on point to play in a small puddle of water in a stream bed.
