Grammy Red has always wanted to ride her bike across the Golden Gate Bridge
Joseph Strauss, the chief engineer had long dreamed of constructing “the biggest thing of its kind that a man could build.” In the Golden Gate Bridge, he found that opportunity. The construction began in 1933 and the bridge was open to traffic in 1937.
On the day we were there it was busy.
We rode to the first of the two towers that stand 746 feet above the water.
80,000 miles of wire was used in the construction.
We wished it hadn’t been so foggy, but maybe we will come back another day.
Now lets get on our bikes and head to Fisherman’s Wharf.
