Sacramento, California

IMG_3665Our next stop was Sacramento the capital of California.

We camped at Minden Lake Thousand Trails about 30 miles from Sacramento.IMG_3672

We found a parking space down town (which wasn’t easy) and headed to the Capitol for a tour.

The stained glass seal above the entrance was made in 1908.  The seal represents the history of California.IMG_3674The 80 member Assembly Gallery where votes are casts electronically.IMG_3678

California’s 40 member Senators meet in this chamber.

Senators are called individually and cast votes by voice.IMG_3682The building was built over 14 years (1860-1874.)

IMG_3666 Each year, once the money raised to build the Capitol was spent construction stopped.  IMG_3663There are many representations of bears through out the Capitol. IMG_3680 They represent strength.IMG_3686On our way back to the truck we stopped at the Wells Fargo Museum

and learned about stage coaches played a role in moving money.IMG_3699
