As we approached Wyoming we were all excited! We knew we would get to see my mom’s first cousin Sue and her husband Joe. Marcus and Caroline had met them once when they were a couple years old, but we feel like we know them because Grammy Carol tells us about their family. They generously invited us to stay on their ranch. They have grandchildren of all ages so their basement is full of treasures. Marcus and Cali found some dress-up clothes right away.
On Sunday morning Joe took us to see a cattle drive. Cheyenne is getting ready for Frontier Days.
Joe let Marcus and Caroline drive his four wheeler to see a windmill.
We went for a walk on the road they live on. We saw lots of flowers and some animal tracks.
Joe took us on a adventure to see the amazing rock formations. We stopped to do some climbing. Marcus wasn’t sure we would be able to find the car again.
We just had the best time being with Joe, Sue and Linda (Sue’s good friend.) They had four kittens, which Marcus and Caroline mauled and played with for hours. The kids helped Joe with the chores. Cali gave the ladies pedicures. We ate and shared stories. It was so nice to be in a homey comfortable place with such great people.
It was hard to say goodbye! Sue taught Cali to crochet and helped Marcus research animals. Linda listened attentively to the stories they shared. They have horses, goats, sheep, chickens, dogs, cats, a fish and those are just the tame animals on their ranch. We definitely hope to come back again.
