Wisconsin Dells, Its Not Just the Places Its the People

Next we headed to the Wisconsin Dells.  I wasn’t really sure what to expect.  I had heard it was a touristy family vacation destination.  We arrived at Christmas Mountain and were able to stay there for $10 a night with our Coast to Coast membership.  It was a nice park with an indoor pool.

But that was not really our destination….we had given Marcus and Caroline a day at an amusement park of their choice for their birthday.  They had researched all the parks we would be near in the next month, looked at all the pictures, compared all the rides and decided Mt. Olympus in the Dells was their choice.  Marc started researching and found that if you book your stay on line you can stay at their campground where you can walk to the park and get tickets to the park for eighty five dollars.  And you can park in the parking lot and use the park the day you check out as well for that price.  On our first day we went on water slides, the lazy river and the wave pools.  After we went home for dinner we came back and went on a couple roller coasters and the five go cart tracks.  We also celebrated Cloe’s 14th birthday.

And now for the best part of this stop.  How could it get better?? A good friend of Marc’s, whom he has done business with and known for 15 years, just happened to be coming to the Dells for the weekend with his family.  He has older children so we thought Marc could see Rick and the kids and I would continue going on rides.  Well plans changed for the better once we met his children.  Marcus and Cali immediately fell in love with these three people.  They were so good to Marcus and Caroline.  The took them on rides and showed them the kind of people I would be proud to call my kids in ten years.  They went on the water slides, the go carts and the roller coasters.  They shared ice cream and most of all their time.  Marc and I enjoyed getting to know Rick and his wife Mary.  It was great to have some time with adults! Finally at seven in the evening we were all hungry.  Rick and his wife Mary invited us to join them for dinner.  We had fried fish and some laughs.  Being with this family just gave us the best feeling.  At ten o’clock they dropped us back off at our rig…it is just so amazing what happens when things don’t go the way you had planned…..

Hello again. Still with you and enjoying reliving our trips. One of the interesting and fun visits in WI was a trip to the HOUSE ON THE ROCKS. We have taken grandchildren there and it is a crazy place We were almost told not to go by locals. But it became one of the favorites. It is near Frank Lloyd Wrights Talisman ? Wisconsin is a beautiful state. Love Marnie
