Island Hopping

After a week in Oahu where there is a lot of traffic dad and I (Marcus) returned our rental car and walked to the airport. We boarded a flight to Kona on the big island of Hawaii. We booked this flight separately from our flight from the main land. The airline was calledgo! and offered flights to Kona for about $75 per person each way.

We (Caroline and Marcus) sat together for the 45 minute flight. We saw many islands on the way. Some were small and uninhabited. There are around 144 islands in the Hawaiian chain. There are eight main islands. The big island of Hawaii is the youngest and largest. Due to hot spot activity a new volcanic island is forming 17 miles off the coast of Hawaii. It still 3000 feet below the level of the sea.

We landed at the one story outdoor airport we took a taxi to Enterprise ten miles away. We stopped at Costco because we were hungry. Then we headed to our one bedroom time share. It had a kitchen too. Our dad made us a grilled cheese burger ( with grass fed beef which is pretty cheap) with Maui chips.
