One of the memories of Hawaii that we will always treasure is snorkeling.  Because Hawaii is such a young island most of the shore line is volcanic rock which is great for snorkeling.  It is a bit rough on the feet.

Most other places in the world you have to travel out in a boat to reach the coral reefs, but because of the volcanic rock you can find coral and so many beautiful fish right from the shore.

We all saw parrot fish, yellow tang, butterfly fish, angelfish, Hawaiian Cleaner Fish, Trigger Fish and many others I am unable to name.  The colors of the fish were amazing.  We have never experienced anything like it.  I wish I had pictures to show, but if you ever get a chance to snorkel in Hawaii do it.

This is not a photo I took, but I just wanted to show what it was like.  The sand on this shoreline was a coarse mix of black and white because of the volcanic rock.  Both days we went snorkeling we saw a green sea turtle.  The volunteers said he visits often.
