Three Days…Nebraska to Florida

Well after the water pump was replaced and we made it to Kearny, Nebraska around 11 PM, we spent the night in a small Cabela’s parking lot.  We left early the next morning to be sure we would not be blocked in by employees coming to work.  It really was a small Cabela’s by todays standards.  We drove most of the day.  Stopping every couple of hours so Marc could check the market and the kids and I could stretch and take a break from school work.  I was glad I had made spaghetti and meat sauce the day before so we could just stop and eat at a rest area.  We made it 465 miles to Graham Cave State Park near Danville, MO.  The camp hosts were great.  They helped us find a site where we wouldn’t have to unhook the camper from the trailer.  Not an easy task when you are 56 feet long, especially in a small wooded campground.  We paid our $12 for the no hook up site.  Marc had filled up with deseil so we checked our mileage.  It looks like we are getting 8.42 mpg right now.

The next morning we were up early again to hopefully put some more miles behind us.  We drove from Danville, MO 570 miles to Adairsville, GA.  It was another long day with stops for work and to eat.  We thought maybe we could make it to Marietta, GA but the sun was setting quickly.  We ended up stay at Leisure Time RV Park close to route 75.  It was $17.75 with our Passport America discount and we had a great spot right by the office where we didn’t have to unhook.  When we are traveling like this, not knowing where we will end up, I rely on  I really appreciate others camper’s opinions on campgrounds.  They have been there and usually offer great advice.  I am going to try to put more reviews on there myself because I find them so helpful.

Again we left early to make our final push.  We drove 456 miles from Adairsville, GA to Wildwood, FL.  We had made it!!! Even with our day and a half delay due to the water pump, we had made it back to Florida on schedule!  We checked into Three Flags Thousand Trails and set right to work washing our filthy rig.  This is a Thousand Trail Park that is part of our Zone Membership.  We were featured in last months Trail Blazer Magazine (you can check it out at   on page 26-27)  I was able to pick up an magazine to save and one of the employees even recognized us.

Well the next day we headed out to Seffner, FL to Lazydays to see if we could find a new home.

Amazing days of travel! You put on more miles in 3 days than most of us do in a year. Glad you arrived in Florida in your time frame. Look forward to you stopping in PA next month. Love to all of you! Eddie & Mom
